Game Design: Arcane Entr'rances

Project Overview: "Arcane Entr'rances" is a solo project developed in one week for a game jam, using Unreal Engine. The theme of the game jam was "Behind the Door," and the game was published on itch.io. In this runner game, players place doors that perform various actions, such as destroying obstacles or providing new paths, as they navigate the level.

Design Highlights:

  • Runner Mechanics: A fast-paced runner game where players place doors to interact with the environment dynamically.

  • Thematic Integration: Incorporated the game jam theme "Behind the Door" into core gameplay mechanics.

  • Sound Design: Personally recorded and implemented all sound effects, enhancing the game's atmosphere and player experience.

Technical Implementation:

  • Game Concept and Design: Developed the game concept from scratch based on the game jam prompt, creating a unique and engaging experience.

  • Unreal Engine Development: Built the game using Unreal Engine, showcasing my ability to work quickly and efficiently within the engine.

  • Dynamic Door Placement: Implemented mechanics allowing players to place doors that perform different actions, such as destroying obstacles or creating new paths.

  • Sound Design: Recorded and integrated all sound effects personally, ensuring they matched the game's pace and style.
